Teaching AI Skills to Nonprofit Workers with New Anthropic Program

As AI adoption increases, the need for talent in the field rises too. The AI startup Anthropic is taking on this problem by introducing a fellowship program called Claude Corps, writes The Associated Press in a recent article. Anthropic is investing $150 million to hire and train 1,000 fellows to use their AI chatbot Claude and then place the fellows at nonprofits across the country.

The program will pay the fellows as well as $10,000 in grants to the 400 host organizations. the nonprofits will also receive free access to Claude services. 

The goal of Claude Corps is to help spread knowledge about AI so it can be used more effectively and responsibly. 

Anthropic developed Claude Corps with a nonprofit organization in San Francisco called CodePath. CodePath is focused on helping first-generation and low-income students join the technology workforce and their organization will be handling the applications and managing the program. 

Claude Corps is an experimental program and its continuation will depend on its success this year. This Anthropic program is meant to highlight their belief in balancing profits and social impact. Anthropic hopes other companies will follow suit so more people can learn AI skills.
