Manage Stress Through These 5 Strategies
Manage stress by embracing a new mindset and adding some calming strategies. Stress can make work much harder, and the quality of the work can suffer. Amy Jacques of the Public Relations Society of America Inc (PRSA) suggests these five stress reduction tactics to alleviate some pressure.
- Take note of what is going well in professional or home life. These small wins draw the focus to positive achievements. Even the little things are uplifting.
- Celebrate the little milestones and goals. Taking notice of each bit of progress brings joy and encouragement.
- Pay attention to wording. Negative self-talk is overwhelming. Shifting phraseology to positive thoughts develops a stronger internal support system.
- Spend the most time on the important aspects of the job and life. Devote the most energy to the goal in mind.
- Make sure behavior reflects long-term aspirations. Envision ambitions and work towards them every day. Focusing on the big picture can help with the small tasks.
Deadlines, projects, workload, money, and meetings are common stressors. List achievements, acknowledge the small wins, reframe negative wording, follow what feels most important, and stick to a goal to lighten this load. These strategies promote a sense of calmness and control to help with efficiency and a sense of purpose.
