Overcoming Barriers to Becoming a Data-Informed Association
Many associations recognize the need to become more data-informed but often hesitate due to perceived challenges. A recent Association Analytics article highlighted key obstacles and practical solutions for associations looking to embrace data analytics.

Analytics can seem daunting, but the primary barrier is often inertia, not ignorance. Numerous free learning resources—from Google and Microsoft certifications to YouTube channels like Guy in a Cube—make it easier than ever to get started. The focus isn’t on becoming experts but on learning enough to spark organizational interest and begin the journey.
Timing and Priorities
Delaying analytics initiatives often results in missed opportunities. While legitimate timing concerns exist, setting clear, finite goals can prevent indefinite postponement. Building internal momentum by forming a coalition of colleagues increases organizational buy-in and turns “someday” into a concrete plan.
Resource Constraints
